Statement
The best way to classify my work and define myself as an artist is through the extended use of ironic humor.
My work characterizes as well for its use of absurd scenery and shameless appearance.
The irony that lies within my work is generated through the use of paradoxes, in each paradox co-exist
simultaneously both utmost opposed aspects resulting in a inner discourse that cannot be solved,
the paradox is complete when these forces occur as a consequence of the other making it impossible
for the discourse to ever be resolved. This line of work has been inspired to me by Freud's theory of drives,
on one side: the life-drive or Eros and on the other: the death-drive or Thanatos. The unconscious of the mind,
also called the id. According to Freud, both forces are controlled by the Ego, which at the same time is defined
by the morals of the Superego, when the id forces are of a destructive nature,
the Superego will then get in the way of the id, to prevent us from harming,
causing a inner discourse between our morality and our primary impulses.
Through my work I try to channel the id forces in a way that won't conflict with the Superego,
this is the case in 'Art of Humid War'. But other times is the Superego the problem,
when coming from a strict shared believe system, it can become repressive every time the id seeks satisfaction.
The opposing force is external, discourse happens in a way that the id forces get blocked and pile up until they become uncontainable.
The Superego loses, the borders expand and new borders get traced, when conflicting in such way with id forces the Superego is forced out of the way,
this is the case of 'De Huisvrouw Project' (the housewife project)
